All right. I confess. As much as I do love summer-- the ocean, shorts, flip flops-- I love Fall even more. There is just something magical about the season of back-to-school and pumpkin spice everything. I love how the evenings are cool and a bit crisp and you can start to wear big comfy sweaters and scarves. And let's face it, there is nothing better than curling up on the couch with a warm blanket, a mug of spiced cider, and a good book.
Living in the north of England, I have gotten used to 'milder' summers. In fact, most years we barely hit eighty. This year has been no exception. The weatherman says it is the coldest summer in 30 years! So, as I sit here at my desk writing, I have the window cracked just a bit and I can feel the chilly air sweep over me. It's heavenly.
That isn't to say I wouldn't have liked a hot summer for a change. I did miss being able to get out in the back yard with the kids and the sprinkler. I also missed wearing shorts and flip flops-- would you believe I haven't worn flip flops even once? And I own like 20 pairs!
But since it is 63 degrees right now, and I am dying for a spiced cider (I'll have to get mom to send some; the only cider here is alcoholic), I can't help but yearn for Fall. I'll try my hardest not to switch my web site decor until September, but I can't resist a Fall-inspired picture or two...
Anyone else out there counting down the days?
