Hitting High Word Counts

Friday, 4 January 2013

This will be another short post since I still have two more articles to write. I was hoping to get everything written by yesterday, but I have seriously run out of steam. That isn't to say I haven't been writing. On the contrary, I have written more in the last few days than ever. I'm missing sleep. In fact, the night before last I stayed up writing until two a.m. That effort, plus the writing I did yesterday after the kids went to bed left me with a word count of 3371 for the day. I have never written that much in one day!

So, today I'm going to write those last two articles and start editing. You see, the next step is the one I've been dreading. Not the editing, I enjoy that, it's the formatting I dread. I need to add hyperlinks (which also means a lot of research on line) and put it all into HTML. Then I have to upload it. God, I hope I can figure that part out!

But that isn't even the most exciting/terrifying thing happening. Tonight, I am doing the Harlequin Intrigue Speed Dating Pitch! I will know tonight if they want to see more of my book. I'm not getting too  excited, because this isn't my first rodeo. I have done pitches with Harlequin before. Only the 'mail in your synopsis/first chapter' type, but I seem to struggle presenting my work in short form. I'm not sure the 100 word pitch I've written is really enough, but I'm going to give it a go. You never know until you try, right?

So maybe I'll be back with some good news, maybe not. Either way, I'll keep you posted.

Happy writing!
