I finally bit the bullet and signed up for NaNoWriMo.

I have watched the participants of National Novel Writing Month each year, for years now with a combination of wonder and envy. For anyone who has never heard of this phenomenon, NaNoWriMo happens every November. Writers from all over the world set out on the first of November to write a novel. Or at least 50,000 words. The idea is to get a first, and very rough, draft down in by the end of November.

In theory, it sounds do-able. And there are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of
people who complete the task each year.

I want to be one of them.

Of course, with my life things are never easy and it seems like a stretch to think I could get 2000 words written a day, especially since it means writing EVERY day. And I already write between 1000 and 1500 a day on articles (trying to bring in some extra cash considering our recent bad luck). But I'm going to give it a shot anyway. The thing is, even if I only write 5000, and I'm sure I'll do better than that, it's something. And at this point any word count is a good thing.

So, yeah, I'm taking the leap. I'll update you each week on my Wednesday post. Right now I'm in the planning phases of my next WIP anyway. The next step is to rope my CP into doing it with me since the WIP I'm working on is for our write-along. She'll probably love the idea and she's got a great heads start. Last she updated me she was already over 2500 words.

I need to work out how to do the 'buddy' thing on the NaNoWriMo site, but feel free to add me if you are signed up and if you know how to, I'm ChristyKate. Otherwise, leave me a comment and once I figure it out I'll add you.

Happy NaNoWriMo-ing!!
